Kimberlee Soule

“If you’re willing to pay attention to and dialogue with what’s happening inside of you, you’ll find that your body already knows the answers about how to live a full, present, connected, and healthy life.”

MY STORY

While I hold university degrees, certifications, and diplomas—and continue to learn and train—I don’t offer counselling based on qualifications alone. My work is shaped not only by professional training, but by lived experience.

I have walked my own path of repair and recovery. A journey toward greater connection with my body, a deeper sense of belonging, and more compassion for myself. Along the way, I’ve known places such as anxiety, depression, grief, patterns of disconnection in relationships, and ways of coping that no longer served me. I share this not to centre my story, but to name something important: I am human, too.

Years of my own therapy, healing work, and professional supervision have supported my capacity to sit with others in the impact of trauma and loss—with care, presence, and respect. It’s my hope that whether or not you choose to work with me, you find support that helps you move toward greater connection with yourself and with what sustains you.

FUN FACTS ABOUT ME

I’m a mother of three grown children, and blessed to be a grandmother

I have an older dog Patsy who is my co-worker. She sleeps a lot on the job but she’s been known to be very helpful at times too and is much loved by those who meet her.

An avid reader, I also love journalling and have kept a diary since I was a very young girl. My parents encouraged me by writing down my words in a diary when I could not yet even write!

I love snorkelling and being in the water but having grown up in Canada, can’t quite shake the fear of sharks here in Australia so I stick to the shallows.

"Do you remember who you were before the world told you who you were?"

MY APPROACH

"One of the most beautiful gifts in the world is the gift of encouragement. When someone encourages you, that person helps you over a threshold you might otherwise never have crossed on your own."

My approach is integrative and trauma-informed, grounded in the understanding that healing happens through body, mind, and spirit. I support clients to gently reconnect with their natural capacity for self-regulation, meaning-making, and resilience. Our work focuses on the nervous system, creative expression, and reflective conversation, and is always collaborative, respectful, and choice-based. You are the expert in your own lived experience.

“Sensorimotor Art Therapy encourages the awareness of bodily felt experiences and sensory feedback so that clients can actively respond to overwhelming events and begin to develop new pathways toward healing and a more embodied sense of self.”

A central part of my work involves body-based and creative approaches, including Initiatic Art Therapy, Guided Drawing, and Sensorimotor Art Therapy. These methods were developed by Cornelia Elbrecht and are informed by the work of Johanne Hamel and Cathy Malchiodi. They use simple, structured processes that engage sensation and movement, supporting healing at a level beyond words. No artistic skill is needed. By creating safe conditions for expression and integration, this work can help restore a sense of safety in the body and support emotional regulation.

“Revitalizing these Lost Zones within our psyche is about looking directly at the damage, as we do with dreamwork, and stitch by stitch, bringing what has been torn from us back into belonging.”

Movement-based work is also supported through Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), an evidence-based approach designed specifically for people impacted by trauma. TCTSY emphasises choice, agency, and present-moment awareness rather than performance or correction. It supports reconnection with the body as a source of safety and strength, while gently supporting nervous system regulation.

“Healing doesn’t happen in isolation. It happens in the context of relationships, in community, where safety and trust can be felt in the body.”

Talk therapy is woven throughout this work. I integrate somatic awareness with thoughtful exploration and meaning-making, drawing on parts-based perspectives that recognise how trauma can lead to internal fragmentation. This approach supports curiosity and compassion toward different aspects of self, as a pathway toward greater coherence and wholeness. Jungian-informed practices, including attention to symbolism and dreams, may also be used to support self-understanding and life transitions, alongside the essential role of grief work in trauma healing.

“When our grief cannot be spoken, it falls into the shadow and re-arises in us as symptoms. So many of us are depressed, anxious, and lonely. We struggle with addictions and find ourselves moving at a breathless pace, trying to keep up with the machinery of culture.”

DBT-informed principles, such as mindfulness, emotional regulation, and distress tolerance, offer practical skills to support stability, agency, and resilience in daily life.
